Erica's Take on Name, Image, Likeness

Before working on this project, I didn't know much about the new NCAA rules on Name, Image and Likeness. Honestly, the extent of my knowledge when it came to college athletics was what time the Huskers and the LSU Tigers were playing football on Saturday's. But, now that I've done research and talked to athletes, I think the new rules are a great idea. In some states, like Nebraska, college sports are arguably a much bigger deal than professional sports. Therefore, where college athletes are a big deal, I think they should get some money out of it. It's a great way for them to grow their personal brand, especially for those who are interested in playing professionally after college. While I'm not more likely to purchase a product because a student-athlete is promoting it, I do think sponsoring a student-athlete is a great marketing tactic for small businesses, especially in Nebraska.
